The Sunday Parkways “Walk and Roll” in Northeast Portland on Sunday, May 16th will be an educational walk intended to teach about aspects of the built environment that are positive and negative for older adults and persons with disabilities. Issues such as sidewalks, traffic patterns, Portland policy, and housing design will be discussed. Since this is the first time such as walk will be offered, it will be a learning experience for all of those involved, including the leader of the walk. Everyone is welcome to join the group and it will be a great opportunity to meet new people and learn a little about how our environments impact all of us, no matter what your age and/or ability.
The walk will start at 10:30 a.m. at Fernhill Park near the climbing wall at WPC’s table (we’re the people with yellow shirts and a “Wheel of Trivia”) and will last approximately 45 minutes (less than one mile) as the group walks down Ainsworth to Alberta Park.
